Social Media – What is the difference between a @ link and a hashtag (#)

This one is one that may sound like a no brainer but when I say I am here for you and the BASICS I mean it!

There are a lot of details to keep in mind when it comes to your social media and this HOT TIP is here to help you gain clarity around 2 of the most used functions:

What is the difference between a @ link and a hashtag (#) link

They seem similar but are really 2 very different things:

@ – this is a TAG and is what we use to create links to others social accounts. It’s how we TAG people that we are talking about or mentioning so that they get recognition and it can help to get further reach on our posts.

# – this is a HASHTAG – using this in a post associates your post with a topic or multiple topics that you decide. These are topics of content that other people follow so it can broaden the reach of your post.

There are many thoughts on using hashtags but my advice is to keep it simple, keep it really relevant to the topic of your post and who the post is best for and don’t go overboard.

Have a watch as as walk you through these 2 very different Social Media functions!
